Our Playgroup is a safe and fun place for parents and young children to interact with each other and with other families. All of our playgroups have leaders and helpers from the church community who endeavour to provide a caring and nurturing environment for adults and children who attend.
We currently run a number of playgroup sessions between 9:30-11:30am each week day.
ACTIVITIES
Every week we offer a range of activities including craft, painting, cutting and pasting, dressing up, outdoor play, playdough and music. Sometimes play is messy, so please dress your child in comfortable clothes so they can get dirty without ruining their best clothes!
MAT TIME
Singing and story time is great preparation for school and kinder, and also lots of fun. Little children learn best by example, so it really helps if parents join in – sitting on the mat with them if necessary. Chatting during singing time is very distracting for children and leaders, so please don’t!
SNACK TIME
Each parent is asked to bring along a healthy snack and drink for their child, to be eaten together at the table at the appropriate time. PLEASE DO NOT BRING ANY NUTS OR NUT PRODUCTS TO PLAYGROUP. Allergies to nuts can be very severe, and we appreciate your cooperation in this. Tea and coffee are available for parents – please help yourself – and be aware of the danger of hot drinks and small children. Feel free to provide morning tea for the mums – it’s always welcome!
OUTSIDE TIME
Please remember hats and sunscreen, especially during terms 1 and 4. Children need to be supervised when they are outside, so please be aware of this.
BIRTHDAYS & OTHER CELEBRATIONS
We give each child a small gift and sing to them to celebrate their birthday – you are most welcome to bring along special party food or a cake to share with the group. We also celebrate Easter and Christmas, and talk about the Christian message of these celebrations. Leaders may also pray a blessing with the children at snack time.
COST
Fees are payable per term, and are due at the beginning of each term. Fees are calculated at $4.50 per week for one child or $9.00 per week for a family (once second child is over 18 months). Families are not required to be members of Playgroup Victoria as our playgroup has membership. Any problems with payment of fees should be directed to Sue. A $10 discount applies for families with a health care card. Cheques should be made payable to “Berwick Church of Christ Playgroup”.
You can also pay your fees online. You will be given our bank account details in a welcome letter when you join playgroup.
DATES
We basically follow Victorian school terms and public holidays apart from at the very start and end of the year.

Our playgroup is very popular, and we always seem to have a growing list of people wanting to join. If you are interested in joining, please email [email protected] or call Berwick Church of Christ with your details so we can add you to the list.
